Why have a concerto competition?
To support, encourage, and promote string students to reach their next level as musicians. Competition has shown to be a great avenue to raise musical talent and to continue to promote art. It prepares the student to have highly focused practice, advance technically, develop musical expression and think about their audience as recipients of their talent. This Alvaton, KY based competition will draw talent from across the region and highlight the talent here in Bowling Green.

The competition is open to all pre-college violin, viola and cello students residing in the US. All students must submit a preliminary round video which will be viewed by a qualified adjudicator(s). The 20 finalists must perform one movement from a major concerto for their instrument by memory at the April 2 finals.
